An interview with L D Perez

We're back with another indie author interview. We've been working hard over here, doing our bit to partner up with as many indie authors as we can to form a cool community where their work is highlighted, promoted and appreciated. Today, we're talking to L D Perez. All links are at the bottom, ready for you to head on over and connect with them.
"I write poems, short stories and a whole bunch of other stuff. When I’m not creating art, I’m watching shows like Braceface or going to the movies. One thing I want to do is visit the Hindu temple in Tampa, check out some spring water sites and sell my house so I can move to either NY state or Virginia so I can see snow again. It is too hot in Florida for me.
A book I’m really excited to promote is XC Heroes Origins. You see, back in the 5th or 6th grade, I created a stick figure comic of these Xtremely Cool Heroes. I tried writing a movie while in middle school about a group of ex-con vigilante. With this latest reboot, we made some huge progress. Unfortunately, two characters didn’t make the reboot.
I am working on promoting XC Heroes Origins whilst writing 2 or 3 poems daily via TikTok under the handle LDPerez75, as well as Dayz Of Our Heroes Vol. 3, and a mini drama called Dry Season. Normally, Dayz Of Our Heroes content would be published on my podcast, Personal With X, but for the purposes of saving and raising some money because you know… budgeting, I decided to publish Volume 3 in book format.
Well, I started out with poetry books. Eventually I got a little curious and wrote some short stories, then just went back to poetry and floored the production. Something motivated me in either 2017 or 2018 to write a poem everyday, which you can check via my Instagram account LDPerez75. Just check on the highlights.
Indie vs traditional publishing? All I know is with indie, there’s nothing holding me back and I call the shots.
A challenge is marketing. I say the last ten years could have been more interesting had I honed in on marketing my book. I’m not talking about paid marketing, but the real benefits of organic marketing.
My advice to any writer; starting out is go at your own pace. Find creative ways to make your art or book appeal to people."
